The Role:

As we expand, OpenCorporates is looking to hire an experienced Pre-Sales Solutions Engineer. We aspire to conduct seamless business transactions and this person will help us to achieve our goal to exceed our prospects’ expectations and find a quick and successful close to new business. Pre-sales will be responsible, alongside sales, for the achievement of their region’s annual quota.

You will ultimately be the technical conscience for the Sales team ensuring we pursue with vigor those opportunities that are a correct “FIT” for OC’s core competencies while “qualifying out” opportunities where OC cannot sufficiently meet requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Responding in a timely manner to prospects’ technical requests, including data inquiries and API inquiries 
  • Presenting to prospects as needed alongside the sales team
  • Act as a conduit between the sales and the product & technical teams, building and implementing efficient and robust processes to ensure effective collaboration
  • Being fully involved in RFI/RFP responses from a technical perspective
  • Answering prospect questions about OpenCorporates’ Roadmap and working with the product team to capture customer requirements
  • Customer Education, some customers need hand-holding to understand business registry information and the nuances associated with it
  • Support the data evaluation process
  • Risk Assessment - identify requirements that will eliminate us from consideration
  • Vendor Onboarding: security, company, product questions, cross organization comm
  • Aid in the production of evergreen knowledgebase articles as and when common questions arise


Desirable skills / experience:

  • Previous experience working as Pre-sales Solutions Engineer

  • Good knowledge working with APIs including demonstrable experience in applying API-enabled services and with postman or equivalent

  • Experience demo-ing API products would be preferred

  • Worked with large data sets and particularly company data

  • Able to present to stakeholders at all levels both internally and externally

  • A commercially focused approach to speaking with customers

  • Experience of creating usable technical documentation for the purpose of educating our customers
