OpenCorporates exists to make information about companies and the corporate world more accessible, more discoverable, and more usable, and thus give citizens, community groups, journalists, other companies, and society as a whole, the ability to understand, monitor and regulate them.
We're based in Hoxton, in the heart of London's technology hub.
We live in a world where the future of democracy is no longer assured, and the power and opacity of corporations threatens to undermine society. If you want to make a difference, want to make sure that fundamental rights and democratic values are maintained, join OpenCorporates, the largest open database of companies in the world. You can read more about the impact we have, and the data side of things, on our blog.
Our Data Challenges
We need to focus on efficiency and productivity improvements in order to maintain our competitive advantage, scale at pace, provide better and fresher data and minimise human interaction:
We are looking for an experienced Data Management Lead to oversee the teams conducting Data Operations and Data Onboarding and Acquisition, allocating and prioritising work against our Data Roadmap. You will ensure smooth operations and that our technology, processes and documentation are effective and scalable.
You should have an excellent understanding of data sourcing, administration, quality management and remediation across large scale datasets, and have demonstrable experience in improving processes across these. Knowledge about company data would be great but is not required.
Our ideal candidate will have experience with the technologies used in our current pipeline SQLite, MySQL, JSON, Python and ElasticSearch. Any exposure to Ruby or TigerGraph would be a bonus. You will have had experience with building new data pipelines incorporating automated data quality and anomaly checking - the technologies that we are going to use aren’t decided yet and you will work alongside the Chief Data and Technology Officers (and their teams), feeding into the design and implementation of our new tech.
This is a relatively small team so we want someone who can lead, mentor and coach but who also wants to get their hands dirty when needed. The right candidate be passionate about continuing to learn and improve and have a focus on client success. You’ll want to have some fun whilst solving challenges whilst making a difference to the world.
What you'll get in return
